The Mario Reto Edition 99′

Most people think “MR” is something Mitsubishi came up with, but Mario likes to think it’s named after him. Dubbed a 99 Eclipse GSX “MR”, This street/strip build is nearly complete. Mario took it upon himself to revive a 99′ GSX from, well, near death. By taking out the tired stock motor and replacing nearly every component he could get his hands on the car has transformed into something completely new. With some undesirable previous owner modifications and neglect, it has been a long project. We needed a roll-off dumpster just to carry away the amount of zip-ties holding it together. Okay, maybe not – But it wasn’t easy.
Lucky to have a new owner, the GSX is now powered by a 2.3L Stroked 4G63t. This AWD Automatic is designed to make power, without loosing the comfort of a daily driver. With a Forced Performance turbo, HKS Cams, and ECMLink v3 tuning software, the cars daily driven tune makes 345AWHP and 310lb/ft of torque on our Mustang Dyno. With the high losses of the automatic transmission taken into account, that’s not bad for something that get’s you to work everyday, oh, on pump gas too.
With plans to uncork the turbo with better fuel and adding Speed Density based tuning, we expect much more power in the future. check back for updates and photos to see this build continually develop into something special.
